Pause A Moment with God
Have you ever sensed the Holy Spirit speaking a single word into your heart softly, yet with unmistakable clarity?
Recently, that word for me has been “Pause.”
What Does It Mean to Pause?
In its simplest form, to pause means to stop, take a breath, and listen. It sounds easy, but in a world that never slows down, it’s one of the most powerful and often overlooked spiritual practices.
We pause a video when something profound is said so we can think it over. We pause a conversation to really listen. And spiritually speaking, we must pause to hear from God, to reflect, to reset.
A Scriptural Invitation to Be Still
This idea isn’t new. Scripture gives us this gentle command in Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.”
This is the essence of the pause. Being still isn’t just about the absence of movement it’s about creating room to know God more deeply. It’s about realigning our hearts with His presence and His purpose.
Let His Peace Speak Louder Than Fear
When we pause, we open our hearts to the peace of Christ. In John 14:27, Jesus says: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
This isn’t a temporary peace. It’s not conditional. It’s a divine, supernatural peace that silences fear and steadies our hearts. And it’s available every time we choose to pause and turn our attention toward Him.
Why the Pause Matters
Pausing in the Spirit isn’t passive it’s intentional.
• It allows us to meditate on God’s Word.
• It helps us respond with wisdom instead of reacting in emotion.
• It draws us closer to His voice, His heart, and His peace.
• It reminds us of who He is—and who we are in Him.
